One time, to see the paintings of famous artists, one had to visit museums or art galleries. These days it is possible for anyone to hang a reproduction of a famous artwork in their own home, and be inspired by it anytime.
I like to surround myself with my favorite pieces.. which aren’t just my own. I also own reproductions by Picasso, Monet, Dali, Van Gogh (can’t afford the originals… yet) and originals by a few contemporary artists.
One of the most popular sites to buy reproductions of famous paintings is the site Art.com.
Art.com is an established online print on demand site for the works of artists past and present.
People can go to Art.com to buy art prints, giclee prints, stretched canvas prints, limited editions, posters and more from popular contemporary artists and famous historical artists. Some of the contemporary artists are actually selected members of Artist Rising, a popular portfolio site. Art.com also offers matting and framing for its prints.
What I find interesting here is the vast array of options to shop for art. Art is categorized according to subject, collection, style, artist, product type and even room.
In the case of rooms, a particular room in your house can be selected, and art will be recommended to match. Selecting the kitchen, for example, results in an array of food themed art. The nursery has mostly childlike and cartoony art.
This is actually a fun place to explore for ideas and inspiration. For those who do commission based art according to a pre-set location, these pages will be particularly helpful.
Art Previews
A preview allows viewing of the print hanging on a wall of a room, which is always useful for online art shopping. Another thing I like to see at such sites are reviews from other customers. They are great to read through before placing an order.
Photos to Art
This is the print on demand service of Art.com. Simply upload your photograph or image of an artwork. Have then reproduced on canvas, acrylic prints, mounted, on a poster, framed and more… then shipped to your home.
Art.com Membership
Signing up for a free Art.com membership has several benefits. Artists and collectors can create their own galleries, and collect art in Pinterest fashion to be displayed at their own profile. Members can also follow others and track orders.
Purchasing from Art.com is no risk and satisfaction is guaranteed. They have a great return policy whereby any item can be returned within 30 days for exchange or refund.
Overall, I find Art.com a great site to browse and purchase famous and contemporary artworks, and be inspired.
Here are some of my favorite artworks from Art.com.
