All my life, the only thing that I've ever enjoyed doing was doodling. I have a degree in Journalism, Psychology and Literature and I spent the three years in college doing nothing but draw. I was that crazy weird kid who sat in one corner and kept obsessively scribbling in a notebook. I don't regret doing that as that really helped me improve my drawing skills.
My works are mostly abstract illustrations. But recently I've started creating a lot of fan art. I'm a crazy Doctor Who fan so I make a lot of fan-art related to the show.
What music do you like to have playing while creating?
I love listening to Indie music. The Smiths are one of my favorite bands.
Tell us about your creative process, from the beginning of a typical piece to its completion:
I can never tell what my paintings/illustrations will look like in its final form. I try not to plan everything before I start a painting or an illustration. I find it easier to go with the flow and see what it turns out to look like.
What things inspire you to create?
Movies, music, certain emotions, people. I love drawing portraits. There's something about a persons face that makes drawing so much fun. Especially the eyes.
How do you promote your work on the internet?
Mostly through Facebook. I also have a Twitter, Tumblr and an Instagram account.
Tell us about influences.
I love everything that has something to do with Indie. Music, movies, art and so on.
Please recommend an artist you admire, and tell us a little about them:
Van Gogh is one of my all time favorite artists. The Doctor Who episode Vincent and the Doctor just made me love the show and the artist even more that I already did. I also love the works of Sylvia Ji. Such a brilliant artist!
I'm also a huge fan of the blog 'Humans of New York'. I think its the only photography page on Facebook that I actually like. It's different and it's inspiring. Brandon Stanton deserves all the attention that he is getting right now.
If you could live your life over again, would there be anything you would do differently?
I would try to be more social, I guess. Haha. But again, maybe I won't.
What plans do you have for the future?
I just want to improve my skills. Be really good at what I do. And do what it is that I love the most.
Do you have any good advice for emerging artists?
Be inspired all the time. InspirationInspiration triggers creativity.
