All these years I have struggled with myself to paint a personal way of looking at things on my paintings. Through the thick brushstroke I try to give to them a primitive look, rather raw and quite esquematic. My paintings are not in a hurry. They are slow, with little elements and frozen in time. I have always been very interested in all that is involved with figures, that is why my paintings show these contemplative figures, isolated.

Please tell us about your first experience with art.

My first’s experiences creating were rather confusing. At first I have to fight with the medium, understand it, and later I had to find my way. It was not easy for me and after many years I still find difficulties to translate into the canvas what I have on my mind.

What type of music do you like to have in the background while creating art?

Classical music, moreover antique and baroque.

What are you trying to convey to viewers through your art?

I am trying to show them a different way of looking into things. I like them to slow down and contemplate.

Creative process

First I look for images, information and try to figure it out inside my mind, I always start with a drawing, sketch or something of the kind. I try to figure out how to translate it into the canvas.

Please recommend another artist you admire, and tell us about them.

I admire very much Pat Andrea. I love the liberty in his paintings and how he introduces all kind of elements without fear. I also like very much Hernan Bas. I love the complexity of the worlds he creates inside his paintings.

Tell us something interesting about yourself.

I love bicycling in the city, strolling around watching shops and people. Also I love the tube where so many different people meet with different stories and situations.

If you had a chance to relive life, would there be anything you would do differently?
